The ability to intelligently sense and fuse information-rich real-time pictures of wide-area environments is important for disaster recovery, homeland security, cyber security, network centric warfare, and other context awareness applications. Submissions are sought in areas including the following: + Large-scale sensor-based data collection architectures + Intelligent sensing in tactical, ad hoc, sensor and mobile networks + Intelligent, autonomic and self-organizing sensing and sensor networks + Measurement and sensing grids + Distributed event-driven systems for sensing and fusion systems + Temporal and spatial event correlation algorithms + Situation awareness in incomplete, inexact and probabilistic environments + Threat prediction, vulnerability analysis and impact assessment + Integration with SOA and enterprise event processors + GIS and localization technologies in situation management + Peer-to-peer architectures for situation management + Applications in cyber security, disaster response, crises management, home land security, intelligent transportation, industry and health care + Deployment experience and testbeds All papers should be formatted and submitted according to the SPIE Defense, Security and Sensing 2009 guidelines and will be reviewed by the technical program committee. For further information, see http://spie.org/x6765.xml or contact the organizers at issm09 at samrg dot org. Important Dates Abstracts 29 September 2008 Full paper 26 January 2009 Chairs John F.
